Tony Robinson and the Team don their suits in the hope of blending in with the posh surroundings of Lincoln's Inn, London. Amid the grand buildings that make up one of the world's oldest and most distinguished law societies, they have been asked to discover the remains of a 13th-century palace that belonged to Henry III's Lord Chancellor. It was a building that became the birthplace of Britain's legal system. And they can't resist the opportunity to look for evidence of London's earlier Anglo-Saxon history in Lincoln's Inn Fields, the biggest public square in central London. Over the three days of the dig, both sites produce tantalising glimpses of some of the defining events that have shaped the city's history.
